Last night I had the privilege of watching "Slumdog Millionaire" -- an extraordinary Golden Globe-winning film that is nominated for 10 Academy Awards, including Best Director and Best Picture.Also last night, the film's producer -- Christian Colson -- was awarded the top prize at the Producers Guild of America Awards ceremony.

I loved the movie! I thought it lived up to all the hype, which doesnt always happen :)
ReplyDeleteThe problem with this movie is that it's a feel-good movie (almost a Disney movie in nature). In adopting this style, the movie inexorably perpetuates the status quo by subverting any attempts to address the hegemonic influences it so onerously presents.
